| Open Training Notes The notes on this site are all written by Well House Consultants. We're a niche training company based in Melksham, Wiltshire, England - thoroughly enjoying whet we do which is running public and private courses on Python, PHP, Perl, Tcl/Tk, Java, MySQL and Linux. But we can't hope to provide training for everyone ... some folks are simply too far away for it to be cost effective for them to come on a course (or for us to visit them) and others want to learn for their own personal use, where the enthusiasm and drive is much greater than is typical in our customers, but the cost of attending a commercial course would be prohibitive. For people who won't be attending one of our courses, we're making some of our notes available at no charge under an "Open Training Notes" license. We've gained a great deal from the Open Source world, and it's our way of giving something back. We even provide a support forum - Opentalk where you can post up questions that arise; we're committed to answering questions on that forum at least once every 24 hours. We have retained copyright on our notes in a similar way to that retained by the authors of Open Source software in order to prevent them being used by "Third Parties" against the spirit of their release. You are very welcome to use them, copy them, learn from them - but you may NOT make any charge for them, nor may you make any charge for presenting a course which includes them. Initially, there's a Complete Java Course available - starting from "what is Java" through to modules introducing Servlets and JSPs. We've also released some modules on each of the other subjects that we offer courses on - in PHP, for example, we offer notes on Arrays (which differ in PHP from arrays in languages such as C, so often cause newcomers some grief) and a complete framework for a shopping cart application, which is one of the more common uses of the technology. |
